DAO offers free EPA licensed Appliance Pick-up and Recycling to Indy area Residents.

DAO crews will haul away your old refrigerator at no charge. Our professional staff will set an appointment with you and pick up your old appliance safely and without any fuss. Most pick-ups are done within 72 hours Monday through Saturday.

DAO technicians are EPA licensed to safely remove Freon from your appliance. In most cases, scrappers who pick your appliance off the curb do not possess the training, equipment or EPA license to recover Freon without harming the environment. DAO is an environmental organization first and foremost. You can rest assured that your old appliances created over one hundred jobs at DAO in the past year.

At DAO, our US Department of Labor accredited program trains appliance repair technicians, EPA licensed recycling technicians and OSHA certified warehouse workers. DAO prides itself on a diverse workforce, including many workers with barriers to employment.

Your appliances support veterans programs. The nonprofit DAO Career Training Institute (link) gives preferential enrollment and scholarships to US military veterans. DAO employs and trains around 30 veterans currently. Through a recent agreement with the Veterans Administration, DAO Career Training Institute will begin training and employing vets in the VA’s vocational rehabilitation program.

DAO Career Training Institute can provide tax deductible receipts for appliances donated for that program. To take advantage of this, when calling in a pick-up, you may request the donation be earmarked for training purposes. Request a receipt from the dispatcher and the driver will deliver it when picking up your old appliance.

What happens to your old appliance?
All of the material is 100% recycled and diverted from landfills.
